The aim of Turkish and Social Sciences Education is to contribute to the development of mother tongue education by producing theoretical, academic, scientific and practical knowledge that can be used in the field of mother tongue education in Turkey and abroad; to train teacher candidates in the field of Turkish language education who are qualified to be employed in our country and abroad, especially in official schools and institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education, and to contribute to the development of mother tongue education by developing solutions at local and international level.

The Department of Turkish and Social Sciences Education, which was established in 2013 within Hacettepe University, admitted its first undergraduate students in the 2015-2016 academic year. The duration of the Turkish Education undergraduate program is four years (eight semesters) and the medium of instruction is Turkish. Our department also provides graduate level education in the fields of Turkish Education and Teaching Turkish to Turkish Children Living Abroad, including master's and doctoral programs.
